Community Course Descriptions:

Adult CPR and First Aid in Spanish

First Aid/CPR/AED for the Schools and Community is designed to train individuals and families to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations, and to recognize and care for life-threatening emergencies such as respiratory or cardiac problems, sudden illness, or injuries to infants, children or adults.  Approx. 12 hours total.

Adult CPR and First Aid is designed to train individuals and families to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations, and to recognize and care for life-threatening emergencies such as respiratory or cardiac problems, sudden illness, or injuries to adults.  Approx. 8 hours total.

CPR for the Professional Rescuer is designed to train professional rescuers (those with a duty to respond) the skills needed to respond appropriately to respiratory and cardiac emergencies in infants, children or adults.  This class also teaches the rescuer to use these skills in teams and with the aid of rescue devices. Approx. 8 hours total.

Lifeguarding is designed to teach lifeguards the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies.  Approx. 44 hours total.

CPR and First Aid Instructor class is designed to train individuals to instruct others in how to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations, and to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies such as respiratory or cardiac situations.  After taking this course, the student will b certified to teach Community First Aid and Safety courses for the American Red Cross.  Approx. 16 hours total. 


Babysittingis designed to teach 11 - 15 year old children the skills and knowledge needed to provide safe and effective care for younger children. Approx. 8 hours total.



Challenge Course


For a Challenge Course, participants must be able to pass the written test and all skills for the component desired without any instruction or viewing of the DVD. If you are unable to pass either the skills or written test then you are required to take a full course. One-half of your Challenge Course fee will be carried over to a full class held within that same month.


Business Workplace Courses


Whether you need to train two employees or 1000 employees in locations across the country, the Red Cross can help. We can provide high quality safety training when and where you need it, through one point of contact. Our flexible emergency preparedness solutions will help you meet OSHA guidelines and prepare your employees to save lives.

Flexible Training Programs- It’s Your Choice!

Option 1- Full-Service Contract: A Red Cross instructor can come to your facility and train your employees at a time that works for you- daytime, evenings or weekends. With a minimum of 6 participants, an instructor will bring all needed program materials to provide on-site training.

Option 2- Chapter classes: For those businesses that have fewer than 6 employees that need training we have Workplace classes available during the daytime at our Chapter.
Classes for CPR/AED are from 9am-1pm and First Aid 1:30pm-3:30pm.

Option 3- Authorized Provider: Become and authorized provider and have your staff trained as Red Cross instructors to provide first aid, CPR and AED training on-site. This cost-effective option allows you to schedule training at your convenience with instructors familiar with your specific emergency procedures.

Adult CPR and First Aid is designed to train individuals and employees to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situations,and to recognize and care for life-threatening emergencies such as respiratory or cardiac problems, sudden illness, or injuries to adults.  Approx. 8 hours total.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is designed to train individuals on the proper application and use of an AED in conjunction with CPR. It also will explain what defibrillation is and how it works. 
Approx. 1 hour added to total

Bloodborne Pathogens Training: Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) will help you to-

  • Understand how diseases are transmitted.
  • Identify how to minimize or eliminate exposure.
  • Learn how to protect yourself.
    Approx. 1 1/2 hour added to total


    Pack more training into your day with Injury Control Modules!

    The American Red Cross Injury-control modules are a series of one-hour, awareness-level modules on topics that can help you reduce costly on-the-job injuries and help employees avoid major health risks. They’re an efficient way to keep “safety first” and take steps to control your health care costs.

    Choose from six topics Each one-hour session includes a self-assessment to help employees recognize risky habits, plus skill demonstrations and lively discussions that reinforce practical prevention tips. Topics include:
  • Ergonomics
  • Slips, Trips & Falls
  • Back Injury Prevention
  • Workplace Violence Awareness
  • Managing Stress
  • Your Heart Matters

    Flexible delivery
    Depending on your needs, courses can be presented at your location or at your local Red Cross chapter. You can also send employees to our train-the-trainer courses.

    Refund Policy:
    Cancellation of a class is required at least 48 hours prior to the time of the class to receive a full refund. If you pay with a cedit card, there will be a $5.00 service charge subtracted from the refund amount. If you paid with cash or a check, payment will be mailed within 15 days. If cancellation is less than 48 hours you may transfer your funds to another class (within three months) or forfeit the fee.
